July 22nd update

on July 23, 2013

Yesterday morning was bitter sweet as we packed the last bag in our van and pulled away from home for the unknown. It kind of felt like going on an unplanned vacation. We were unsure of where we would lay our heads at night and what our daily activities would be yet still had a sense of excitement.

Our first stop was U of M for another NST with the nurse. Not only was it hard to get the babies’ heart beats on the monitors (never happened) but they have grown and changed positions making it hard for the nurse to perform a biophysical instead. She had to recruit one of the doctors for help, but eventually they were satisfied with what they could see.

Our next task was finding out where we would stay for the night. After calling the Ronald McDonald house we found that there were not rooms available for us. We were told to call back in the afternoon and check again. We spent the next few hours playing at the park (the boys played, I watched), getting lunch and catching a movie at the theater before calling back. This time Josh had me prepared with questions. There was still no room available. We did find out there are others ahead of us on the waiting list (not sure how many) and we will need to continue calling back every day until a room opens up for us.

Thankfully, we weren’t stuck finding a hotel or sleeping in the van. Several people had offered a room for us in their homes and one was fairly close to the hospital (just in case). We made our way to there and settled in. The night was filled with conversation, catching up, kids playing and dinner. We are so thankful that our friends have opened their home to us.

The plan for this week is to continue waiting on these babies. We will see the doctor again on Thursday. Hopefully, at that time we can determine a c-section date for if the babies do not come on their own. We also will be asking if my body has progressed any further. After the appointment we will be heading for another NST or biophysical. We will continue to update everyone on what’s going on and if we are able to move to RM house.

Thank you for all of your continued prayers and the many gifts that you have been sending us. All are such a blessing and are helping to reduce the stress of this situation. God Bless!
